Non-Thermal O2 Plasma Efficacy on C. albicans and Its Effect on Denture Base Resin Color
نویسندگان
چکیده
Denture stomatitis is a disease involving C. albicans, which can affect elderly and immuno-compromised people. To avoid any recurrence of this pathology, it necessary to treat patients regularly disinfect dentures. However, the denture cleansers’ efficacy not optimal often leads adverse color effects on base resins. The aim study was investigate low-pressure non-thermal O2 plasma (NTP) treatment albicans seeded ProBase®Hot resin (Ivoclar Vivadent). viability reduction assessed by colony forming units (CFU) analysis scanning electron microscopy (SEM). effect repeated treatments evaluated spectrophotometry. samples were placed in sealed bag generated conditions. results showed that 120-min NTP led 6-log (p < 0.05) yeasts’ major alterations observed SEM. Furthermore, significant slight changes (∆E00 = 1.33) noted only after six 0.05). aesthetic preserved, as perceptible remained below acceptability threshold 4).

Objective: Studies have demonstrates that physical properties of denture base affect patient satisfaction and acceptance. Thermal conductivity is among the most important properties of denture base influencing the sense of taste and gingival health. The conventionally used acrylic resin has a low coefficient of thermal conductivity. This study aimed to improve the thermal conductivity of acry...
متن کاملEffect of disinfectant solutions on a denture base acrylic resin.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the hardness, roughness and mass loss of an acrylic denture base resin after in vitro exposure to four disinfectant solutions. Forty specimens (Clássico, Brazil) were prepared and randomly assigned to 4 groups n = 10) according to the disinfectant solution: G1: control, stored in distilled water at 37 degrees C; G2: 1% sodium hypochlorite; G3: 2% glutaralde...
متن کاملEffect of experimental photopolymerized coatings on the hydrophobicity of a denture base acrylic resin and on Candida albicans adhesion.
OBJECTIVE This study investigated the effect of experimental photopolymerized coatings, containing zwitterionic or hydrophilic monomers, on the hydrophobicity of a denture base acrylic resin and on Candida albicans adhesion. METHODS Acrylic specimens were prepared with rough and smooth surfaces and were either left untreated (control) or coated with one of the following experimental coatings:...
متن کاملEffect of plasma treatment on adhesion of self-curing repair resin to acrylic denture base.
Plasma irradiation on surface of heat-cured acrylic resin prior to processing self-curing acrylic resin is likely to effectively increase the adhesive strength between these materials for short-term period. However, long-term reliability of adhesive strength between these materials has not been clarified yet. In the present study, these materials were stored in water for a long period (100 days...
